This Weeks Pic's

I don't really know why I got so excited over the never-ending straps on the French Connection bags. Maybe because they're very helpful for throwing over the shoulder, like a handbag?

Bought this a couple of weeks ago to try, and it has slotted into my skincare routine quite nicely. A review will be up when I've fully made my mind up on it, but so far so good!

Well hello ducky...

A definite favourite for this month (even though it is about to draw to an end) - this jacket is like a portable blanket. Worth every penny!

My Autumnal To-Do List

Lately my love and excitement for the Autumn season has been growing day by day as more and more signs begin to appear and the fullness of the season draws closer. There is just something about this time of the year that puts a bit smile on my face! So firstly some things that I love about Autumn are:

- The vast amount of new seasonally orientated food and drinks
- When you leave the house in the morning and the air is so cold you can see your breath
- The change in colour of the scenery
- Wrapping up warm (got to love whacking the Ugg boots and parkas back out again)
- Hello Halloween!
- ... and the food Halloween brings (sweets and toffee apples - I'm in heaven)
- The frost that appears on the grass in the morning and on spiders webs *enters heavenly trance*...

So now that you know some of the things I love about Autumn, I wanted to share some of the things on my list of things to do this season, and hopefully I get around to doing them all..

My To-Do List:

1 . Buy an autumn candle. I've seen a couple from Yankee which I may need to invest in soon..
2 . Carve maybe some more advanced shapes into a pumpkin besides the generic scary face
3 . Make toffee apples
4 . Find a red lipstick that will work for the Autumn season as I am still to find a red that I love and will wear..
5 . Pluck up the courage and watch a scary movie on Halloween (I am a huge wuss with scary films!)
6 . Go to a Halloween party!
7 . Take my camera out with me everywhere I go for capturing those amazing autumn landscapes and scenery changes.
8 . Definately try any new hot drinks Costa or Starbucks bring out for the season. Yum..
9 . Make my room more autumnal - maybe some different throw cushions?
10 . Stock up on warm socks and jumpers as I seem to live in those when the weather gets colder. Also get my hands on some new gloves and a knitted bobble hat; there's nothing worse than freezing cold ears!

Well I hope you enjoyed my list and maybe it has given you a little bit of inspiration into your fall to-do list! As you can probably tell I love this season and would love to know whats on your list as it may give me some ideas too!

This Weeks Pic's

I love spotting those first little signs of Autumn - It's such a gorgeous time of the year

A couple of recent purchases - A gorgeous black floppy hat perfect for those chilly autumn mornings (H&M), and brown gel eyeliner as I think I prefer it to black for everyday use (MAYBELLINE)

No one knows my happiness on buying my favourite childhood sweeties

This Weeks Pic's

A trip to London with my art foundation class to the Victoria and Albert Museum. Chinese was an obvious choice...

My newest brush being a fluffy brush from Topshop. Plus it's pink, and you can't argue with that.

A meal this week that just made my day: very fancy chips and burger, with all the fillings to pick from laid out on the table for us (you can't see it but my burger is very full!)

A particular art piece I am pretty proud of involving merging memories

I am really sorry this post was not added on the weekend, but I have just started an art foundation this last week and it was a very fast paced first week and to be honest my days are very long. So I will make an effort to post the pictures on the weekend like I said but sometimes it may be the Monday because I seem to be a very busy bee at the moment! Hope you don't mind..

First Illamasque buy

Back when I went to London a couple of weeks ago I popped into Selfridges and had a little look at the Illamasque counter as I had never bought anything from there before and never tried anything either, so this was a good opportunity. I had seen a couple of things on the website and on YouTube but in particular there was a multi-purpose product which is in a slightly harder 'cream blush' sort of consistency.

Anywho after finally finding it I decided to go for 'Androgen' which is this really pretty bold pinky/coral, but not a bright pink more of a baby pink colour (I've probably just seriously confused you haven't I..) I decided to go for it because it was a colour that would work for me for lips, eyes and cheeks, whereas some others wouldn't work for many things. It was £17.50 which is pretty pricey, probably the most I would pay if not more, but I knew I wouldn't come across an illamasque for a fair while and wanted to splash out. It is gorgeous though!

Something I will probably regret putting on my desk in a couple of weeks time

Loving dainty little rings, particularly my simple bands and my scull midi ring

A little last minute buy to store some of my makeup in

This is worth a buy if you want a wrap up of the current trends without any babbling - just to-the-point trends

I went out with my boyfriend this week and had the most amazing meal: 'Pear and lychee fizz' to get started, 'seafood cakes with spinach' and then the most incredible 'Teriyaki sea reared trout' with pak choi and other vegetables. I left very happy and very full..

Hair Fantasies

Recently I have been having different ideas about my hair colour. My hair has gone through many stages of colour, from blonde when I was younger, then it developed into a mousy brown when I became a teenager and that's the way it remained until I got bored and decided to experiment around with dye. Well, what a roller-coaster that was!

The first couple of times I dyed it a slightly darker shade of brown, which was nice to try, but then I really should have just stopped after that.. My next attempt to go a lovely auburn colour went beyond the boundaries of just plain wrong when i went to wash my hair and my hair has gone bright red. Yep, bright-in your face red. So that soon has to be corrected by putting a brown packet over it because it was not staying red, which resulted in my hair going jet black. Again very unflattering because it made me look as white as a ghost. So the lesson I have picked up from this is that I am not meant to dye my hair darker..

So if you're wondering what I did to get rid of the black, I went and got blonde highlights put on, and hey-presto, it became a much more controllable shade of brown! Safe to say I was scarred for life from that experience, so dyeing my hair lighter is now the only option. This leads me to my current hair fantasies, which is to turn my hair into more of a dirty blonde instead of the brown it is now. This is my current hair at the moment -

And these are some inspirations for possible dirty blonde hair -

What do you think? Do you think it will suit?

What do you think?

I've decided to change the name of my blog to 'Cupcakes & Cameras' because the name is catchy and most importantly reflects me hugely as a person. The reasoning behind it is that anyone who know me knows my house is full of baking, my mum is constantly baking cakes all the time for fun and for her small business, and so am I... There is nothing that makes me happier than a fresh batch of cupcakes, covered in a decent swirl of butter cream icing and topped with an sort of sprinkle or glitter. Besides from tasting amazing, they just make me feel like I'm six every time I eat and make them, which I love.

The second reason for the name, the 'cameras' section, would be that I am a huge photography fan and photography has always interested and inspired me. I've grown up with video and photographs being a huge part of my childhood as my parents were constantly following me and my sister around with a camera and we have draws full of home videos and baby albums hand made by my mum. There's something about photography that I just can't get away from and so that represents a huge past of me as a person, hence the new blog name!

Hopefully anyone who reads my blog enjoys the name and enjoys my blog as well. I only do this blog for fun as I love sharing the photos I take and just having a good ramble about makeup, so if you like it I would love any feedback or comments you have.

Bye

This Weeks Pic's

I've decided to start something on my blog where every weekend (or whenever works best in the week) I post a few, or even a couple, of photos that represent something about my week or just things that have made me smile or just taken my interest and I want to share with you. 'This Weeks Pic's' will just show fun images for you to enjoy and for me to display for you all!

Chocolate cupcakes for my Dads birthday on Tuesday

A pretty bowl now used to hold rings and any lost hair ties

My first (and certainly not last) NARS eyeshadow duo, in the colour 'Kuala Lumpur'

And a beautiful lipgloss in the colour 'Coeur Sucre'

In love with this bird topped tea pot that is sat on my desk

Name Change!

So I don't know if anyone has noticed but I decided to change my blog name as I wasn't 100% sure with the name for a more long term basis as I want to keep my blog going for a long time. I looked on BlogLovin and I think because I changed the name of the web address for the blog that any updates on Pearl Girl won't come through to you because I am now technically editing a new blog. So I would hugely appreciate it and love it if you could go and follow 'Rea Lewis' for the time being which can be done if you hit the BlogLovin widget on the side that will take you to the new one. As I may be changing the name at the moment to find one I am completely happy with I will let you know when I've made a final decision on the name and what that will be :) sorry about this!
