Photo of the day

Happy Easter everyone! Gosh how time flies by, I can't believe it's already nearly April, where did that come from!? Hope you're all getting lots of yummy chocolate and sweet treats, and I for one never feel guilty for all the chocolate on Easter, it just a done deal really.. Lately things have felt a bit stressful as things are coming which are big changes in my life but also in plenty of others as we leave sixth form and enter the bigger world, scary much (waaaah)! I can honestly say I have never been more nervous and scared, and for those who are reading this and thinking why on earth would you not want to leave school, especially as you've stayed on two extra years, well my reply would be that school is the best years of your life as you have everything there for you like your friends and a routine, and now I'm thinking to myself I never want to leave! So this Easter holiday is going to provide plenty of thinking time and time to relax and gear myself up for that final term in sixth form, and then that's it. Support from others at times like this are so important and make things a lot easier when you have something pushing you forward and keeping your chin up, or even just keeping you in a better mood so you don't feel stressed or worried. So that's where my photo of the day comes in, m boyfriend introduced me to this song a little while back and I always resort to it for a boost and a way to make me feel a bit more cheery. It also makes me think of summer which is why it gets me through these cold days we seem to be having at the moment (curse you cold windy weather), so this is it and I'm sure you've heard it before, but enjoy!

OUTFIT OF THE DAY

Blouse - Jack Wills
Jeans - Jack Wills
Chelsea Boots - Clarks
Coat - Topshop
Midi scull ring - River Island
So I have to say the weather is letting us all down at the moment, my poor skirts and t-shirts are all quivering in my wardrobe as it is, in my opinion, still too cold to brave less clothing, as I need plenty of layers (bit of a wuss) But hopefully warmer weather will come in May, then we can enjoy the spring we are missing! At the moment I find I still cannot go out without a coat otherwise I may not make it home alive, so this coat is perfect as it can be worn for casual, everyday occasions such as going to sixth form, or smarter occasions such as my boyfriends birthday meal which is very soon. The fur collar is also great as it keeps my neck warm and cosy, and when i want a more casual coat I can remove the collar and have a plain blue coat. Snug as a bug :)

Easter 'birds nest' cornflake cakes!

Hey all you lovely people! So today me and my mum made some really cute Easter cornflake cakes which are too scrummy not to share with you, and they're stupidly easy to make as well! You will need:

  1. A medium sized plastic mixing bowl
  2. A spatula and a normal spoon
  3. 200g of milk chocolate (I used Sainsburys own.. perfectly fine!)
  4. 100g of cornflakes
  5. A normal sized bag of mini eggs
  6. Cake cases, this batch made 14 normal/small sized ones so around that number or less if you want bigger cakes
  7. A tray or holder to put the cases into
So firstly break the chocolate into chunks, bung it into the bowl and put in the microwave on full temperature, for 20 seconds at a time, taking it out and stirring with the spatula as you go, because chocolate tends to begin to melt quickly and you want to avoid any burnt chocolate, that would be a crime! So after a few 20 second goes in the microwave the chocolate should be melting nicely, and take it to one side and stir around until all the chocolate has melted. Even if there are some lumpy bits of chocolate that haven't melted completely, keep stiring as the heat off of the melted chocolate will warm and melt the rest. Then add in the cornflakes, stir, stir stir, until all the cornflakes are covered... then spoon it out into the cakes which could be popped into a cake holder or onto a tray or whatever floats your boat, and then when its all gone from the bowl, pop on the mini eggs, then pop them into the fridge to cool and wait until they are solid to dig in. Easy-peasy lemon squeezy!
Hope you enjoyed this little Easter treat, they're so easy to make and taste amazing so give them a go. Have a good week :)

Rise and shine

Maybelline Fit Me foundation in "210"
Maybelline Fit Me concealer in "20"
Maybelline Fit Me powder in "220"
Benefit "High Beam" highlighter
LUSH lip scrub in "Bubblegum"
LomaBrit lip salve
Maybelline blush in "57 Peach"
Elf "Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder"
Collection 2000 "Smokey Eyes" shadow pallet
Rimmel "Glam'Eyes" professional liquid liner
Rimmel eyebrow pencil in "002 Hazel"
Benefit "They're Real!" mascara
Natural Collection corrector stick in "Green"

I thought I would share my makeup with you because I use many different products but these have stuck as good products for me and my makeup routine. You may be thinking "gosh you wear a lot of makeup.." and I do like a good coverage over my face as I an uneven skin tone as the hollows of my cheeks and around my nose are rather red so I like to use the concealers and the green corrector stick to balance out and neutralise the redness (If any of you suffer with red areas I would completely recommend the green corrector stick, its cheap as chips and really reduces the redness!) There is a decent amount I use but please remember not all of it I use in excess, some only a little bit or some not at all depending on how I'm feeling...My makeup tends to involve winged eye liner everyday as I feel it opens my eyes up and makes me look more awake, as well as plenty of mascara as I think again it does the same. On occasion I change up my makeup, such as the mascara, as I have been using Rimmels "Scandal Eyes" mascara for a long time and will probably continue to buy it but I wanted to give the Benefit one a go... So if you have any questions about my opinions about my makeup and preferences leave them in the comments!

Michael Kors Rose Gold watch dupe!

The Rose Gold Michael Kors watch is definitely a gorgeous watch, very pretty yet bold and sophisticated. I never used to wear watches very often, as I can get a bit ticked off with them banging around on my wrist or getting in the way of tops of cardigans, but I had my eye glued on the rose gold one as I loved the look of it and have began to like watches again so new one was in order. Obviously there were the purple elasticated ones EVERYONE had when we were younger (you all know the ones I am on about, with the lady bugs on? I can see you all now nodding your heads and reminiscing...) but then after that I've only ever had one more, a (fake, shh) white Chanel J12, which may I add it just so nice. But recently I popped out to have a look around the shops and went into River Island, and came across the watches, which I usually brush past with no hesitation. But this time I stopped to have a little look, and was happily surprised when I came across a watch which looked pretty similar to the MK rose gold one. It's called the 'Cream and gold tone RI watch', which has the 3 smaller faces inside and 3 crowns, just like the MK watch. Despite it saying on the website cream and gold, there is definitely a pink tone to it and looks a lot darker in colour than on the website so I would say to bear that in mind. Definitely glad I stumbled across that watch, as it was a cheap £28 compared to the MK watch which is around the £250 mark... Bargain!

Michael Kors Rose Gold watch (don't know the model name, whoops)

Photo of the day - A style influence

ELLIE GOULDING

Hello lovely people, so I thought I would share with you one of my style influences and someone who I just generally enjoy and love as an artist. I have always loved Ellie Gouldings' style as she has such an effortlessly pretty look, half due to her flawless complexion and pink and/or white hair, and the other half due to her style. I love the pretty colours and the fact she can wear quite a few different styles and pull them off, such as a relaxed checked shirt and jeans which doesn't quite have the same affect on me! *sigh* The way she can wear girly items but can dress them up or change the feel by adding a black leather jacket for example, or other pieces to make the outfit more punchy and edgy. She has always been a style influence for me, but I don't think I will go as far as the pink hair, great on her though! Anyway here is one of her songs I have fallen in love with recently, for some reason when I first heard it I wasn't very fussed on it but then out of the blue it's all I've been listening to, so enjoy :)

End of February/beginning of March favourites..

Hello lovely people! Today I thought I would share a few things that I have really liked this last month or so. You are probably all thinking oh flipping heck haven't we seen these items already everywhere, that spread like a rash across the internet and blogs as they are just so popular.. Well now I know why! So here's just a little sum up of what I thought of them!

Benefit high beam highlighter- This I found has made a real difference to the appear of my face once I apply my makeup. I am not a huge fan of the dewy look as my face is pretty greasy on my T zone already so any extra would be a no-no, But this gives a perfect pearl coloured tint to my cheek bones and lights up my face without being to much. Definately will buy again!

Benefit they're real mascara - It gives a really great coverage and lengthens the lashes nicely, and as I have rather long lashes anyway it shapes them nicely and shows off their length well. The only thing I would say, for me personally, is that it creates the same affect as some of the other less expensive mascaras I've tried, such as Rimmels scandaleyes mascara, so whether or not I will repurchase the Benefit one again I'm not quite sure..

Tangle Teezer The Original - For those who do not know my hair is very thick and gets tangled stupidly quick, so I needed something that wasn't going to jank at my hair and rip the ends as I have found using a normal brush ALOT of my hair has been coming out (whether that be the brush or just my hair in general I'm not sure) so I wanted to try something new to see if ti helped. This tangle Teezer is delicate on the hair, easy to carry with you as its about the size of the palm of your hand and seems to be pulling less of my hair out. And it's pink, how cute!

real Techniques core collection brushes - These brushes really are good! Firstly, any softer!? The fact that they are soft and glide over the skin makes it so much more enjoyable to out on makeup, as they are delicate and make my makeup look really smooth. It works out a lot cheaper to buy the pack of the core collection instead of buying them separately too, so worth getting all of them so you have them there for when you need them...my favourite is the big powder brush!

So I hope you all enjoyed my little update, and maybe it will give you an idea of what you want to try next or just another opinion on some very popular products. Have a good day!

Photo of the day

This is up in our kitchen at home, and every time I see it acts as a little prompt to do these things and not be so worried about things all of the time! For me, being myself has been one of the things that I've pushed on my self this school year actually, not to pretend to be someone else or just not myself fully, and show people how loud (and proud!) I am, as I think that's such a hard thing to do without someone saying god your odd or she's a bit weird. Being yourself may be a very easy thing for some people to do, but for some and a little for me it's hard if you know people will laugh at you, not with you. I thought I had to act laid back and chilled for people to like me, but in fact I've realised why would I want to sit in silence and twiddle my thumbs, that's no fun at all! So if you are reading this, maybe set one of these as a target for yourself this week, pluck up some courage and go for it! This is only a little ramble post but I thought I would share it with you and maybe it will give you a little nudge too!

Liebster Award

I was rather excited when the lovely Alexandra from A is for Alexandra tagged me for the Liebster Award. I had never heard of it before but when I went on to have a little look it seemed like good fun and a good way to share and meet other people!

The Rules Are:

1. You must link back to the blogger who nominated you!
2. Post eleven facts about yourself.
3. Answer the eleven questions the blogger who tagged you has set for you.
4. Create eleven questions for the bloggers you nominate.
5. Choose eleven people with less that 200 followers to give this award to, and tell them on their page.

11 Facts about myself:

1.  One of my hobbies is snowboarding, I'v really gotten into it and would seriously recommend it!

2. My mums side of the family are from England, and my dads side from from the Caribbean, so I am half black and half white (but no one can tell)
3. Galaxy over Dairy milk
4. I am very loud and can talk at a supersonic speed without realising I am, so I am not great once I get rambling or ranting
5. I love photography, its a hobbie and a future career aspiration
6. I am not a heavy drinker, I've never been ill drinking or falling all over the shop, and cosmopolitian is my favourite drink to have out (yes I am of the legal age to drink, have no fear)
7. 'Wicked' is my all time favourite musical!
8. I have never broken a bone
9. Some of my favourite films are Chalet Girl, Tangled, No Strings Attached, Valentines Day and New Years Eve
10. I have one younger sister called Morgan
11. One of my favourite things to have for breakfast is pancakes with bacon and maple syrup. Lots of people say ew that sounds awful but you really have to try it before you judge!

11 questions set by A is for Alexandra:

1. What is your favourite item of clothing that you own? That's a tough one! Hmm, I would say my Chelsea boots as they're just so comfy and easy to pair with outfits. But if you want clothing my Topshop leather jacket - a staple!

2. What inspires your style? I don't really have a set style if i'm honest, I like clothes that make me feel feminine and comfortable, and nothing too bold or eccentric. I love Topshop and Jack Wills - two complete opposites!
3. What make up can't you live without? I could not live without concealer, I have dark circles around my eyes and I couldn't stand the idea of not covering them up.
4. Where is your favourite place that you've travelled to? Either New York or Sri Lanka, both were amazing holidays.
5. What made you start your blog? I have always liked blogs and what they are about, and nver really thought about doing one myself as I didn't really have the confidence or guts to do one. But this year my confidence has grown a lot more and I just thought 'hay what the heck!' why dont I just make my own. And so I did!
6. Lip gloss or lip stick? Lip stick, I can't deal with my hair stuck to my face as I have way too much hair.
7. Converse or Vans? Toughy, I am going to go with converse.
8. Who is your favourite artist at the moment? Its a bit random but I've loved listening to all of Two Door Cinema Clubs stuff at the moment, not very new I know but they're addictive
9. Describe your overall style. Like I said before I don't really have a style, it can be either two things - a very what I call 'british' style (chelsea boots, wax jacket..) or a bit more of a 'just walked out of Topshop' thing going on with my leather jacket and black basket bag... you get the idea.
10. What is your favourite meal to make? Okay for the record I really cannot cook, I could if I followed a recipe but i'm not very confident when it comes down to cooking so this question may not be very exciting for you all reading it.. I would say maybe stir fry, like veg and rice. Then again I did make a chicken topped with bacon, veg and potato dish once before for me and my boyfriend and it was soo nice!
11. If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?  Good question.. I would say Miranda Kerr, just because she is so incredibly beautiful, and an amazing woman in the way she lives her life in a healthy and caring way, as well as how she takes care of her family.
